Yarn Along

I love checking in at small things on Wednesdays 🙂  It’s awesome seeing what’s out there.

So the shawl… still not done.  But I am still proud of myself.  You can see we’re having some issues.  I think I missed a yarn over and got off on my count.  And funkiness ensued.  But you gotta be proud of me – when I discovered it I didn’t cry or curse or throw it across the room or anything dramatic.  I ripped back and tried to make it work.  And tried again.  Which is why it is taking me forever to finish the last 3 rows – I need to really concentrate and be able to count.  So there can be no little boys making trouble while I’m knitting (which is probably how I got into this mess in the first place.)  By the time they’re in bed I tend to be wiped out and just sit on the couch watching TV and looking at my knitting basket.  I keep thinking tonight will be different but we all know where those blasted good intentions lead.  (The top photo almost shows the color right.  It’s still a little deeper than it shows though.) 

And I’m still working my way through One Thousand Gifts.  It’s giving me lots to think about.  And while it’s heartbreaking it is also absolutely gorgeous.  I’m actually really glad I have to slow down reading it, savor it.  Usually I like to get through and know what happens (and move on to the next book.)  Guess I’m a “product reader” just like a product knitter 🙂  But this is definitely a book about process.  Totally something I need!
